Get Involved

Volunteering with Campus Kitchen is easy, rewarding, and open to everyone. All of our volunteer shifts begin and end directly on the Augsburg University campus. Best of all, our team provides free transportation—our shift leaders will drive you to and from volunteer sites in the neighborhood using our campus van.

Volunteer Guidelines & Requirements

  • What to Wear: For safety reasons, you must wear closed-toed shoes and long pants. Please also bring a hat or be prepared to tie long hair back before arriving.
  • Age Requirements: Volunteers under 16 years of age are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
  • Experience Level: No prior experience is necessary! All of our shifts are designed to be comfortable and accessible, whether it’s your first time cooking a large meal or your first trip helping out in the neighborhood.

Health and Illness Policy

The health of our volunteers and the community members we serve is our top priority.

  • If you are feeling unwell, please do not come to the kitchen. Rest up, recover, and let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust our shift planning.

  • Reporting illness: If you recently worked a shift and have since become sick, our health inspectors require us to keep an official record. Please immediately report your illness to campuskitchen@augsburg.edu.
