There are so many options available to students for international study, provided through Augsburg\u2019s\u00a0Center for Global Education and Experience<\/a>. Many students have successfully completed major courses as well as core requirements abroad on both short-term and semester programs in several different countries.<\/p>\n

GENDER AND SOCIAL CHANGE IN MEXICO<\/h2>\n

Spend the fall semester at Augsburg\u2019s own Mexico location! The Crossing Borders: Gender and Social Change in Mesoamerica<\/a> semester program focuses on gender and sexuality in a Mexican context, and is taught by Augsburg\u2019s permanent faculty in Mexico, Ann Lutterman-Aguilar and Antonio Ortega.<\/p>\n

On this program, students will examine how gender roles, sexuality, history, and culture collide. Several travel experiences are part of the program, including a seminar in Mexico City, a visit to a local volcano, natural waterparks, and more. Other highlights include an opportunity to finish two levels of Spanish, delve into an internship focusing on your major area, LGBTQ-friendly homestays, and interact with local officials and guest speakers.<\/p>\n

Augsburg students receive an automatic $1,000 scholarship on this program, and save money on lower room and board fees \u2013 which makes this program one of the most affordable study abroad options for Auggies.<\/p>\n

OTHER STUDY ABROAD OPTIONS<\/h2>\n

In addition to the fall program in Mexico, CGEE also operates permanent locations in Africa, Europe, and Latin America, which also offer a variety of Women\/Gender Studies courses with a social justice focus.<\/p>\n

Students may also elect to study abroad through one of our Global Affiliates, Exchange Universities, and various short-term programs (including programs led by Women\/Gender Studies faculty!) each year.
