An F-1 student is a non-immigrant who is pursuing a \u201cfull course of study\u201d to achieve a specific educational or professional objective, at an academic institution in the United States that has been designated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to offer courses of study to such students, and has been enrolled in SEVIS (the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System).\u00a0 Along with the normal application process through <a href=\"https:\/\/psycas.liaisoncas.com\/applicant-ux\/#\/login\">PsychologyCas<\/a>, international applicants may also be required to provide the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>English Language Proficiency<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To fulfill Augsburg University\u2019s English Language Proficiency Requirement, all applicants must provide evidence of a sufficient command of both written and spoken English. Non-native or foreign-born English language speakers may be exempt from this requirement and request a waiver based on the successful demonstration of one of the following (applicants may be asked to provide official documentation):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Completion of a previous undergraduate or graduate degree at a college or university within the United States.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Completion of a previous undergraduate or graduate degree at an English-speaking college or university in any country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Completion of at least one full-time semester of study as an undergraduate exchange student at Augsburg University with the GPA of 3.0 or higher.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Completion of one academic year of transferable college level English courses (e.g.: Composition and or Writing) at a college or university within the United States, with equivalent grades of a B or higher.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Completion of at least level 4 of the Minnesota English Language Program (MELP) at the University of Minnesota.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outside of the exemptions listed above, prospective international graduate students may demonstrate English language proficiency through one of the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ets.org\/toefl\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Test of English as a Foreign Language<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (TOEFL)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minimum score of 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) with a sub-score of 20 on the written and 20 on the speaking sections. (The Augsburg University TOEFL code is 6014.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Score of 8.5 or better on the TOEFL Essentials exam.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ielts.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">International English Language Testing System<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (IELTS)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Score report of 6.5.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/englishtest.duolingo.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Duolingo English Exam<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Score of 105.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Score reports must be sent to Augsburg directly from the testing center.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>International Transcript Evaluations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who have attended a college or university outside of the United States are typically required to submit international transcript(s) accompanied by a professional credit evaluation.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Analysis of credentials to determine if the degree is equivalent to a US bachelor\u2019s degree<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Verification that the degree is equivalent, at a minimum, to a four-year US bachelor\u2019s degree is required.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Course-by-course evaluation to show your complete course listing with credit values and grades received for each course, may also be required for specific programs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Calculation of grade point average to demonstrate your cumulative grade point average using the standard US grading system, i.e., A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0, D=1.0, F=0.0.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Translation to English (if applicable)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The evaluation report must be sent directly to Augsburg\u2019s Office of Admissions. Preferred evaluation services are World Education Services (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wes.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.wes.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) or Educational Credential Evaluators (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ece.org\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.ece.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), though Augsburg will accept evaluations from any member of the National Association of Credential Evaluators (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.naces.org\/members\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.naces.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Augsburg may waive the foreign credential evaluation if an official transcript provides sufficient information to determine credit and degree equivalency. This includes but is not limited to students who have earned a Master&#8217;s level degree or higher in the United States and those who have completed coursework as part of a study abroad experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Non-degree seeking students may submit an unofficial transcript as part of their non-degree application.
