This plan highlights the particular aspects that Augsburg seeks to strengthen, advance, and grow for the future while regarding and learning from the institution\u2019s past.<\/p>\n<a class=\"sidebar-color-box maroon-sidebar-box left-color-box\" href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/strategic-plan\/\" style=\"text-align:left;\" >Strategic Plan website<\/a>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>The Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion<\/h2>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-51631\" src=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/president\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/104\/2020\/04\/hagfors-center-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Hagfors Center\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>In January 2018, Augsburg University opened its newest and largest academic building, the Norman and Evangeline Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion.\u00a0 The interdisciplinary Hagfors Center is designed to foster intersections among areas of study, support active learning, and connect the University to the community. As such, the new building embodies Augsburg\u2019s commitment to student learning, urban placemaking, and thoughtful stewardship.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives<\/h2>\n<p>In 2018, Augsburg convened a task force charged with examining the university\u2019s equity work and making recommendations to support its future as an equity leader by ensuring it fully lives into its promise to all students. The task force\u2014comprised of regents, faculty, administration, alumni, and community leaders\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1CZegtM2nBHLM3PUchK7wLSyRNQLN6rkW\/view\">recommended<\/a> that Augsburg develop and prioritize a multi-year, inclusive equity initiative as a primary component of the university\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/strategic-plan\/\">strategic plan<\/a>. The resulting Augsburg150 Equity and Inclusion Framework puts those principles into practice, including required anti-racism training for all faculty and staff. Nason Award for Board Leadership from the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges in 2017. The award recognizes the Board of Regents\u2019 comprehensive strategic planning effort and bold turnaround of a significant capital campaign, which increased institutional confidence and deepened its resilience.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/now\/2018\/05\/29\/board-of-regents-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/now\/2018\/05\/29\/board-of-regents-3\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1586454114686000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGHXNBalUNFR3wzeF1_HHIDZemvXw\">Read more about the award<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>SHARED GOVERNANCE AT Βι¶ΉΤ­΄΄<\/h2>\n<p>The Augsburg Board of Regents charged President Pribbenow with forming a Governance Task Force (GTF) to \u201cengage the community in an examination of Augsburg\u2019s existing decision-making structures and processes in light of Augsburg\u2019s traditions and culture and contemporary models of shared governance in higher education.\u201d \u00a0The Task Force held 25 information-gathering sessions from January through March of 2014, with over 600 individuals participating.\u00a0 The Task Force also examined Augsburg\u2019s governing documents, the broader external context faced by the\u00a0University, best practices for governance and studied the responsibilities and roles of various parts of campus involved in organizational decisions.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1AITvzHaau6nXN54DfWXVAIbjhCwR2b7-tAS8U0LuazE\/edit\">Report of the Governance Task Force<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Βι¶ΉΤ­΄΄ AT 150: \u00a0SEQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION<\/h2>\n<p>Beginning in the fall of 2019, Augsburg held a year-long celebration of our sesquicentennial, with planning led by Professor Darcy Engen and Athletics Director Jeff Swenson, Learn more about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/150\/\">Augsburg&#8217;s sesquicentennial<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Augsburg150 Augsburg150: The Sesquicentennial Strategic Plan was designed by the university\u2019s leaders and community to guide Augsburg University in its sesquicentennial year and beyond.
