As co-owner of the sketch and improvisational comedy\u00a0theater Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis, Lilledahl brought insight from the improv\u00a0world to the crowd of nearly 300 alumni and students meeting to exchange career advice.\u00a0No matter their personality or career, Lilledahl said, all people have anxiety about jumping into\u00a0new conversations or taking new career paths. Instead, we must face our fears and immerse ourselves in new experiences.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Sometimes saying \u201cyes\u201d is easier than we think. Don\u2019t rattle off 20 excuses; jump in with an open mind.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Stop yourself from using the word \u201cbut.\u201d Instead, use the reframing mindset of \u201cyes-and\u201d to add something positive to each situation you are in. Don\u2019t use excuses to squash new ideas, possibilities, or adventures. Rather, embrace them.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Be intentional about your communication. Don\u2019t just be there. Be awake, aware, and connected to the other people in the room.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">Have gratitude for the chance to develop relationships, share ideas, and try new things.
