This year marked the first time that the state debate championship featured two teams from the Minnesota Urban Debate League: St. Paul\u2019s Highland Park and Minneapolis\u2019 Washburn high schools.<\/p>\n<p>Led by Executive Director <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/tag\/amy-cram-helwich\/\">Amy Cram Helwich<\/a><\/strong> and Faculty Adviser <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/faculty\/groven\/\">Robert Groven<\/a>,<\/strong> an Augsburg communication studies professor, the program helps increase school engagement and connectedness, which boosts young people\u2019s confidence in their academic abilities.
