At the same time, Augsburg offers opportunities for students to gain on-the-job and internship experience so that they can focus on their vocational exploration. The College\u2019s efforts in these areas garnered a boost when the nonprofit <strong>Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation<\/strong> extended for an additional three years the Career Ready Internship grant first awarded to Augsburg in 2014-15.<\/p>\n<p>In all, the College will receive nearly $450,000 through the new grant, which will be used to create 200 paid internships for low-income and first-generation students interested in the opportunities available at for-profit corporations and nonprofit organizations. Moreover, this grant supports the College\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/strommen\/\" target=\"_blank\">Clair and Gladys Strommen Center for Meaningful Work<\/a>\u2014a highly visible anchor of the College\u2019s commitment to students\u2019 experiential education and vocational discernment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Augsburg College education plays an integral role in preparing our world\u2019s future leaders to make meaningful contributions to their communities, businesses, governments, and families.
