In January 2013, the Augsburg College Board of Regents\u00a0launched a strategic planning initiative that involved conversation\u00a0and input from across the campus community. The outcome\u00a0of that work is a strategic vision statement that looks out to\u00a02019, Augsburg\u2019s sesquicentennial year:<\/p>\n
In 2019, Augsburg College will be\u00a0a new kind of student-centered,\u00a0urban university that is\u00a0small to our students and big for the world.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\u201cSmall to our students\u201d<\/strong> reflects the relationships, community,\u00a0and personal attention that are hallmarks of the educational\u00a0experience at Augsburg. \u201cBig for the world\u201d<\/strong> acknowledges the\u00a0significant impact we know our students\u2014and alumni\u2014do and\u00a0will make in the world.<\/p>\n
The strategic plan is grounded in Augsburg\u2019s mission statement,\u00a0which was updated in 2010. The plan is organized into three\u00a0categories, or dimensions, each with three goals. Detail about\u00a0each of the strategic planning dimensions is provided on the\u00a0next page. The strategic vision will anchor the College\u2019s institutional\u00a0initiatives and priorities throughout the next five years,\u00a0reflecting the values and commitments stated in our mission:<\/p>\n
Augsburg educates students to be informed citizens, thoughtful stewards, critical thinkers, and responsible leaders. The Augsburg experience is supported by an engaged community that is committed to intentional diversity in its life and work. The first dimension articulates OUR ACADEMIC\u00a0DISTINCTION: Augsburg educates students for\u00a0lives of purpose. The goals in this category\u00a0challenge us to:<\/p>\n
