\"sodhouse\"This summer, Sod House — a theater company founded by Augsburg College Chair of Theater Arts\u00a0Darcey Engen \u201988<\/strong>\u00a0and her husband, Luverne Seifert \u201983 <\/strong>— brought a\u00a0production of \u201cHoopla Train (with Yard Master Yip and his Polkastra)\u201d\u00a0to 14 historic ballrooms in different Minnesota cities\u00a0including\u00a0Barrett, McGregor, Nisswa, and Sleepy Eye.<\/p>\n

Engen and Seifert shared the stage with a troupe of performers to put on the production billed as \u201cLawrence Welk meets \u2018Hee-Haw.\u2019\u201d The Sod House Theater\u00a0project began in 2011 when Engen and Seifert collaborated to create the condensed version of Anton Chekhov\u2019s play “The Cherry Orchard” with Twin Cities colleagues including\u00a0Sarah Myers<\/strong>, associate\u00a0professor of theater at Augsburg.<\/p>\n
