His Holiness the 14<sup>th<\/sup> Dalai Lama will preside over the Losar ceremony. It is the first time in the life of His Holiness, since exile, that he will observe Losar outside of India.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHERE:<\/strong>Si Melby Hall, Kennedy Center, Augsburg College, 715 23rd Ave. S., Minneapolis, 55454<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHEN:<\/strong>Sunday, March 2<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>9-11 a.m.: His Holiness presides over Losar ceremony<\/li>\n<li>11 a.m.-5 p.m.: Community celebration featuring singing, dancing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>BACKGROUND:<\/strong>Losar, the Tibetan New Year, includes a formal ceremony <!--more-->at which His Holiness will preside, accompanied by Buddhist monks dressed in holy robes. The historic service, which will be delivered in the Tibetan language, primarily is open to the people of Tibet who live in the United States. The ceremony is expected to draw more than 3,000 people from Tibet who live in the United States.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED EVENTS:<\/strong>His Holiness will be in the Twin Cities as part of the <a title=\"Nobel Peace Prize Forum\" href=\"http:\/\/peace.augsburg.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nobel Peace Prize Forum<\/a> where he is the keynote speaker on March 1. He also is scheduled to speak March 2 at a private event at Macalester College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TICKETS:<\/strong> The <a title=\"Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tafm.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota<\/a> is the official coordinator of the ceremony. Tickets to attend Losar also will be made available via TAFM and will be distributed first to members of the Tibetan American community. There is no translation service provided.
