On Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m., Lindberg will speak on \u201cLuther on Capitalism,\u201d and on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 10:45 a.m., he will speak on \u201cLuther on War.\u201d Both will take place in Hoversten Chapel and are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>A reception at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. will precede the Tuesday evening lecture, and a luncheon will follow the Wednesday lecture. He is a renowned scholar of early modern history; his work has focused on the political implications of Reformation thought and the Church\u2019s interaction with society at large. He studied at Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, and earned a PhD in Reformation history at the University of Iowa. He is also author of a number of books on the Reformation.<\/p>\n<p>Augsburg\u2019s Founders&#8217; Day Lectures features themes of the Augsburg Confession and early Reformation themes. This annual two-part lecture is connected to observance of Founders\u2019 Day on Nov. 10 and is sponsored by the Office of the President in collaboration with the Religion Department.
