Star Tribune reports on Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion construction kickoff

The Star Tribune recently covered the start of construction on the Norman and Evangeline Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion — Augsburg College’s much anticipated interdisciplinary academic building scheduled to open in January 2018. The article notes that the capital campaign for this building project was the most successful in the College’s history and so far has generated $54 million, which is eight times more than Augsburg has ever raised.

The story also acknowledges the generosity of the building’s lead donors, describing Norm Hagfor’s career success and the decades-long connection the Hagfors family developed with Augsburg.

Star Tribune tells story of Hagfors Center through leadership of Regent Emeritus Mike Good ’71

The Star Tribune’s Neal St. Anthony on Sunday, September 27, wrote a profile about Augsburg College Regent Emeritus Mike Good ’71 and his exemplary leadership as chair of the College’s successful capital campaign for the Norman and Evangeline Hagfors Center for Science, Business, and Religion.

St. Anthony reported that Good retired early in 2012 to “take on for Augsburg’s Board of Regents what Good considers a challenged that transcended his athletic and business career.” Under Good’s leadership, the capital campaign met its goal by exceeding $50 million.

The story discusses key next steps in the process for the building, including that the Board of Regents resolved to proceed with architectural and construction design plans for the signature, interdisciplinary academic building. Rod Greder talks with Star Tribune about content marketing

Instructor Rod Greder spoke with the Star Tribune’s Neal St. Anthony for a business section story about content marketing, or the practice of promoting sales through storytelling. Greder, who is an instructor in the Business-MIS program, told St. Anthony that content marketing is growing in its use and sophistication. “The basic concept is not new but evolving with technology to work better with search engines,” Greder said in the article which also was picked up by Bloomberg News. “It is being used most to generate leads and initiate conversations with prospects and then used for conversion to customer as the prospect views the company as a credible, knowledgeable source on the topic. Content often is sent to the prospect [via e-mail] and then the [customer] develops enough trust to sample the company’s product or service.” Read “Marketing trends: Selling by storytelling.”

Devean George ’99 featured in Star Tribune column

A housing project being developed by Augsburg alumnus Devean George ’99 was one of several items featured in a Star Tribune business column. The piece described George’s recent talk at an annual fundraiser for a North Side land trust that works to help families buy refurbished homes. George, who retired from the NBA in 2011, is readying to break ground on a multi-use project that will offer retail space and apartments in the neighborhood in which he was raised.
