The music therapy major prepares students for clinical practice in today\u2019s world. The music therapy degree engages students in completing the academic and clinical requirements necessary to be eligible to take the board certification exam. Completing these requirements and the successful completion of the board exam earns the credential MT-BC (board-certified music therapist). The courses and clinical placements in the community prepare students to practice in a wide variety of clinical, community, and educational settings. Students have consistent opportunities to observe and engage alongside music therapists in the community and experience how music therapy is utilized in diverse and unique clinical settings. There are also opportunities for students to observe and collaborate with music therapists around the world in our transcultural music therapy courses.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Music Therapy Degree (Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy)<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Bachelor of Science in music therapy ensures students develop their music skills, their understanding of human development, and their clinical skills in order to be prepared to practice and stand out in the job market. Our experienced and distinguished faculty regularly engage colleagues from the community, around the country, and throughout the world to guest lecture and share their expertise. Additionally, the music therapy programs teach music therapy practice from a methods-based approach. This fosters students’ use of critical thinking and creativity as they practice designing and facilitating music therapy experiences. This approach to teaching ensures that students are prepared to work in the diverse world in which music therapists practice and to develop the skills necessary to work with emerging client populations. The music therapy program is accredited by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). <\/span><\/p>\n
