Students admitted into the\u00a0Equivalency Plus MMT program are required to complete the\u00a0equivalency courses in order to continue the progression into the master of music therapy coursework. This enables students to develop the requisite skills needed to progress and develop at the graduate level.\u00a0For students that do\u00a0not have a bachelor&#8217;s degree in music, extensive music prerequisites are required prior to beginning the equivalency coursework.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the Equivalency Plus MMT\u00a0track, students will have completed all the coursework and clinical training necessary to practice as a music therapist, take the Board Certification Exam, and have a master\u2019s degree in music therapy. Certain equivalency courses may be waived if a student has previously completed the course. Contact &#x67;&#x72;&#x61;&#x64;&#x69;&#x6e;&#x66;&#111;&#64;&#97;&#117;&#103;sbur&#x67;&#x2e;&#x65;&#x64;&#x75; to have a transcript evaluation completed.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Prerequisites for admission to the Equivalency Plus program:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Completed bachelor\u2019s degree in music<\/strong> (includes large ensemble experience, chamber music or small ensemble experience, lessons in major instruments, and participation in senior recital).<\/li>\n<li><strong>PSY 203 Lifespan Development (4 cr.)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>PSY 105 Principles of Psychology (4 cr.)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>PSY 262 Abnormal Psychology (4 cr.)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>BIO 103 Human Anatomy and Physiology (4 cr.)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>*Course numbers and titles will vary by institution.
