Students with a GPA of 2.5-3.0 may be admitted conditionally into the program based on the strength of their writing samples.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Deadlines<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Admission is rolling until each genre cohort reaches capacity. Because we\u2019re thoughtful about mentor pairings and cohort size is limited, we encourage you to apply as early as possible to receive your decision and reserve your place. Completed applications are typically reviewed within two weeks.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Application Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>Online Application<\/h3>\n<p>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.augsburg.edu\/apply\/\">online application form<\/a>. <em>There is no application fee.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Personal Essay<\/h3>\n<p>Write a 1-3 page personal essay. Describe your goals as a writer and how you see an MFA in Creative Writing helping you reach these goals. Tell us about a moment when you knew you wanted to do something with your writing.<\/p>\n<p>As you work toward your MFA, you will receive a great deal of critical commentary on your creative work. You will also be expected to take part in the analysis of fellow MFA candidates\u2019 writing during the workshop sessions. How do you react to receiving and giving this type of commentary?<\/p>\n<h3>Writing Sample<\/h3>\n<p>Include a creative writing sample for the genre to which you are applying:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fiction and Creative Nonfiction: 20 pages, double-spaced<\/li>\n<li>Poetry: 15-20 pages, single-spaced<\/li>\n<li>Screenwriting or Playwriting: up to 30 pages in script\/playwriting format<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Transcripts<\/h3>\n<p>Applicants must submit an official transcript(s) from the regionally-accredited institution granting the Bachelor\u2019s degree and from the most recently attended institution, if not the same. Military veterans are required to submit all official transcripts from previously attended institutions to qualify for military benefits.<\/p>\n<p>In the case where prerequisite requirements exist or transfer credits or waivers are sought, official transcripts are required from institutions at which the prerequisites or equivalents were completed.
