{"id":51995,"date":"2015-11-16T21:35:49","date_gmt":"2015-11-16T21:35:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/global\/?p=51995"},"modified":"2015-11-16T21:36:19","modified_gmt":"2015-11-16T21:36:19","slug":"celebration-of-lois-swenson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/global\/2015\/11\/16\/celebration-of-lois-swenson\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebration of Lois Swenson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, November 7th, Augsburg College celebrated the life and legacy of Lois Swenson, during the unveiling of a memorial gift in her honor.<\/p>\n<p>A wooden, handcrafted bench now stands prominently in the atrium of the first floor in Lindell Library, inscribed with: <em>\u201cLois Ann Swenson. 1935-2012. Live Simply so that others may simply live.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Lois Swenson was the very embodiment of CGEE\u2019s philosophy that the purpose of education is to create a more just and sustainable world, and we could not be more grateful to her, and her family and friends\u2019 continued support of our organization and mission.<\/p>\n<p>The event had a great turnout, with multiple speakers honoring Lois, and the unveiling of the new bench!
