John Eastman, the older brother and mentor of Charles Alexander Eastman (Ohiyesa).\u00a0 Syd served as Project Manager of The Dakota Land Study in Minnesota Before 1862 Research\/Book Project, which was completed with the publishing of the book &#8220;Mni Sota Makoce: The Land of the Dakota.&#8221;\u00a0 This book was awarded Minnesota History Book of the year for 2012.\u00a0\u00a0 He was writer and co-producer of the documentary film &#8220;Native Nations: Standing Together for Civil Rights&#8221; shown nationally on ABC, NBC, and the Hallmark Channel.\u00a0 He is Executive Producer\/Producer of &#8220;Ohiyesa: The Soul of an Indian.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/filmseries\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2018\/07\/KateHeadshot.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-50624 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/filmseries\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2018\/07\/KateHeadshot-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"Image of Kate Beane\" width=\"153\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/filmseries\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2018\/07\/KateHeadshot-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/filmseries\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2018\/07\/KateHeadshot-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/filmseries\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2018\/07\/KateHeadshot-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/filmseries\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2018\/07\/KateHeadshot.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 153px) 100vw, 153px\" \/><\/a><strong>Kate Beane<\/strong> (Flandreau Santee Sioux and Muskogee Creek) holds a BA in American Indian Studies and a PhD in American Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.\u00a0 With an employment history rooted in education, she has worked in the Twin Cities as an after school mentor for American Indian youth, an early childhood Dakota language immersion teacher, a local public history consultant, and as a community college instructor.\u00a0 Previously she served as a Charles A.
