The Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE) recently announced an assistance program for teachers with student loans.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Minnesota Teacher Shortage Student Loan Repayment Program, created in 2015, is intended to encourage teachers to teach in Minnesota in designated shortage areas by providing assistance with their student loan repayments.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In general, applicants must currently:<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Hold a teaching license issued by the licensing division in the Minnesota Department of Education on behalf of the Board of Teaching<\/li>\n<li>Be employed by a school district to provide classroom instruction<\/li>\n<li>Teach in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohe.state.mn.us\/pdf\/tslr_faq.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">designated teacher shortage area<\/a>; and<\/li>\n<li>Have outstanding qualified educational loan debt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>Qualifying teachers who apply by <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_2064827651\"><span class=\"aQJ\">June 30, 2016<\/span><\/span>, may be eligible for repayment assistance of $1,000 per year, up to a total of $5,000.
