{"id":44720,"date":"2014-06-30T14:41:30","date_gmt":"2014-06-30T14:41:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/?p=44720"},"modified":"2021-07-20T14:28:37","modified_gmt":"2021-07-20T14:28:37","slug":"support-augsburg-fund-increased-18-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/2014\/06\/30\/support-augsburg-fund-increased-18-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Support for Augsburg Fund Increased by 18% in 2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Donor gifts to The Augsburg Fund increased by 18% in fiscal year 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Augsburg\u2019s fiscal year ended on May 31, 2014, with a strong show of donor support to the College\u2019s annual fund, The Augsburg Fund.<\/p>\n<p>More than 2,260 Augsburg alumni, parents and friends gave more than $1,125,000 to The Augsburg Fund in Fiscal Year 2014\u2014and donors gave 18% more than in the previous fiscal year. Thank you to these many generous donors\u2014take a look at what they made possible:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We welcomed the largest incoming first-year class in Augsburg history\u201434% of whom are the\u00a0<strong>first generation in their families to pursue a college degree<\/strong>, including Psychology major Cheemoua Vang \u201917, named the College\u2019s Emerging Leader of the Year<\/li>\n<li><strong>More than 100 students participated in faculty-led research<\/strong>\u00a0across 22 academic disciplines, like Biology major and Sundquist Scholar Michelle Grafelman \u201815, whose research under Biology professor Matt Beckman has prepared her for a\u00a0summer fellowship in Biomedical Ethics at The Mayo Clinic<\/li>\n<li>Augsburg was named one of the\u00a0<strong>top 25 schools in the country for service learning<\/strong> by\u00a0<em>U.S. News and World Report,<\/em>\u00a0because of students like Communication Studies major Andrea Batt \u201914, a member of the Bonner Leaders program\u2014a service-based, work-study program partnering Augsburg students with nonprofits in the community\u2014and one of six Augsburg students chosen to participate in last year&#8217;s\u00a0Bon Jovi Community Service College Campaign<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you to all of the members of the Augsburg community who gave generously to The Augsburg Fund last year!<\/p>\n<p>Support of The Augsburg Fund is vital to the success of the College and our students since donations are unrestricted and can be used wherever the need is greatest.
