Anderson Music Hall in honor of Augsburg\u2019s 8<sup>th<\/sup> president, Charles Anderson, who served as president for 17 years, from 1980\u00a0to 1997.<\/p>\n<p>President Pribbenow welcomed the guests and stated that \u201cthe legacy of Charles Anderson is very much the foundation for the College\u2019s work today and in the future. We are honored to recognize him by naming the Charles S. Anderson Music Hall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>College Pastor Sonja Hagander and Associate Pastor Justin Lind-Ayres led family, colleagues, alumni and friends in the blessing of the building.\u00a0 Members of the Augsburg choir and band joined the celebration.<\/p>\n<p>Roz Nordaune \u201977, Regent Emerita, and Jeff Swenson \u201979, Athletic Director, paid tribute to Chuck.\u00a0 Jeff described Chuck as a \u201cstudent-first decision maker and\u00a0a competitor, who was a confident and compassionate leader.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roz, who knew Chuck both as a student and a Regent, said, \u201cHis qualities of accessibility, inclusion of Augsburg\u2019s constituencies, always open to discussion and debate and a wonderful sense of humor were always evident to me as my involvement with my alma mater evolved over many years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kathy Tunheim, Regent Emerita Chair during the tenure of President Anderson, sent a letter and shared, \u201cChuck was so proud of Augsburg.\u00a0 He believed in the importance of the College\u2019s work\u2013for its students and for the world they will serve.\u00a0 He had such confidence in the people who were committed to Augsburg\u2019s future.\u00a0 He was truly a willing servant leader.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Kristin Anderson, Augsburg Art Professor and daughter of Charles Anderson,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2013\/10\/Anderson-Dedication-10nh65c.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1501 size-medium\" title=\"Anderson Dedication\" src=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2013\/10\/Anderson-Dedication-10nh65c-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Pribbenow, Kristen Anderson, and two guests stand outside of the music hall\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2013\/10\/Anderson-Dedication-10nh65c-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/alumni\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2013\/10\/Anderson-Dedication-10nh65c-1024x766.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> remarked\u00a0that the naming of the Music Hall in honor of her father is especially fitting as music was important to him throughout his life. \u201cHe understood the many important roles this space could play \u2013 not just for music majors, but for people like him, who were deeply committed to music but who pursued other gifts and professions,\u201d said Kristin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, September 27,\u00a0 the Augsburg community gathered to dedicate the Charles S.
