The Augsburg Core Curriculum is designed to prepare students to be effective, informed, and ethical citizens. But it goes deeper, engaging students in an inquiry about faith and calling in life, and supporting them in meaningful experiences outside of the classroom.<\/p>\n<p>The Augsburg Core Curriculum includes the following components:<\/p>\n<h2>Signature Curriculum<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/academics\/core-curriculum\/signature-curriculum\/\">Signature Curriculum<\/a> offers opportunities for students to engage in learning, dialogue and reflection across the liberal arts and professional studies.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The Augsburg First-Year Program<\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">These courses help undergraduate day students make the transition to college and their new community.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li><strong>Augsburg Seminar<\/strong>\u2014an introduction to the University and its resources, usually linked to an academic course<\/li>\n<li><strong>Engaging Minneapolis<\/strong>\u2014course-embedded experiences that introduce you to our diverse urban community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The Search for Meaning<\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">These courses invite students to explore the University\u2019s Lutheran heritage, gain literacy in religious traditions, and reflect on their own beliefs and values.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Senior Keystone<\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The Senior Keystone helps students to begin the transition to life and work after graduation.<\/p>\n<h2>Liberal Arts Foundation Courses<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/academics\/core-curriculum\/liberal-arts-foundation\/\">Liberal Arts Foundation Courses<\/a> engage students in the discovery of various disciplines\u2014Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Humanities, and Fine Arts\u2014that are essential for creative and informed lives in today\u2019s world.<\/p>\n<h2>Skills for Career and Life<\/h2>\n<p>The Augsburg Curriculum is designed to help students develop the skills necessary for successful careers and fulfilling lives.<\/p>\n<p>At Augsburg we take an individualized approach to skill developmental: early in their college career, each student is evaluated in the areas of mathematics, modern languages, and writing; students are then placed in the appropriate courses for their skill level.\u00a0 The development of skills is extended across the core curriculum and major coursework.\u00a0 For example, writing skills are developed through <a href=\"http:\/\/inside.augsburg.edu\/wac\/\">Writing Across the Curriculum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/academics\/core-curriculum\/skills-requirement\/\">More about Developing Skills for Career and Life &gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>The Augsburg Experience<\/h2>\n<p>Students gain off-campus, real-world experience through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.augsburg.edu\/academics\/augsburg-experience\/\">Augsburg Experience<\/a>, which helps students to apply their academic study in the broader community. Students can fulfill this requirement through \u201cstudy away,\u201d an internship, research with a professor, community service learning, or an off-campus immersion project.
